Earth Day is on Wednesday, and every year, Birmingham celebrates the Sunday afternoon prior at a park with music and beer. Local band, Earthbound, is the highlight of the event, and it just so happens that Dirk has been filling in as their bass player over the past few months. My flight from Baltimore was originally scheduled to arrive in Birmingham at 6:30, and paying the $50 to switch to an earlier flight was well worth the money! Plus, I got to hang out with my friend Katie who was visiting from Louisiana, and Aimee & Jorge showed up, too. Oh, and it was Piper's 5-month-old birthday, so we decided to bring her to her first festival and she went nuts. There were tons of dogs there to sniff and children to kiss, and she did great, considering. It did start raining a few hours into it, so we were home in plenty of time for me to veg in front of the television after a grueling 120 hour work week.
I'm looking forward to a few weeks in Birmingham and have some fun art projects on the horizon!
